Jacksonville Beach, Florida

Investors chartered the Jacksonville and Atlantic Railroad in 1883 to run a narrow gauge line from the city out to an empty stretch of Atlantic shore. Track reached the coast in 1886, the settlement took the name Pablo Beach that May, and the 192 room Murray Hall Hotel opened to absorb the traffic the train delivered. The town traded the name for Jacksonville Beach in 1925, betting the city's name would sell lots faster than its own.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
