St. Paul's by-the-Sea, the first church at the beaches

Episcopalians at Pablo Beach held services in the Murray Hall Hotel because there was no church anywhere on this stretch of coast. In 1887 they raised eight hundred dollars for a Carpenter Gothic chapel and the railroad gave them the corner lot. Year round services did not start until 1925 and the congregation did not become its own parish until 1940. The present building dates from 1967, and the original chapel was sold for one dollar in 2011 and moved to the Beaches Museum.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
