The Edgar Thomson Works, Carnegie's first mill, still making steel

Carnegie's first steel plant opened on the Monongahela at Braddock in 1875, named for the president of the Pennsylvania Railroad, the customer he built it to supply. It is why North Braddock calls itself the birthplace of steel. U.S. Steel still runs it as the Edgar Thomson plant of Mon Valley Works, which makes it one of the longest running steel mills in the country.
