Southwestern Bible Institute lands in Waxahachie and becomes Nelson University
1943
Waxahachie, Texas
P. C. Nelson started a Pentecostal Bible school in Enid, Oklahoma in 1927. It merged with two other Assemblies of God schools, moved to Fort Worth in 1941, then settled in Waxahachie in 1943 and added a junior college course the next year. It became a college in 1963, a university in 1996, and in August 2024 dropped the denominational name to become Nelson University, after the founder.
