Kennesaw State University grows from a junior college to the state's third largest
1963
Kennesaw, Georgia
The Board of Regents chartered a two year college here in 1963, paid for with local bonds and a federal grant, during the postwar boom that filled Cobb County with Lockheed workers. It became a four year college, then a university, then absorbed Southern Polytechnic in 2015. Enrolment now passes 51,000, third in Georgia.
