Mother Alfred Moes founded a Franciscan congregation in Joliet in 1865. In 1920 the sisters amended their charter to add a college department and a nursing school, and in 1925 they opened Assisi Junior College to the public. It became the College of St. Francis in 1930 and a university later.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
