Church of St. Agnes, the Austrian Baroque tower over Frogtown

German speaking Catholics working the railway yards founded this parish in 1887, and the limestone church they finished in 1912 was built in an Austrian Baroque style with an onion domed tower that still marks the Frogtown skyline. The parish became known nationally for its Latin Mass sung with a full orchestra, a practice it kept through the decades when almost nobody else did. It went on the National Register in 1980.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
