Holy Cross Hungarian, the church Delray held on to

The parish began in 1905 when local Catholics talked the only Hungarian speaking priest in Detroit into coming out to preach to them, and it met in a frame building until the cornerstone of this church went down in November 1924. Interstate 75 later cut through the neighbourhood and most of the churches around here were abandoned or knocked flat. The green copper spires are still up. Franciscans from Hungary run the parish, which stays open because it is the one place in southwest Michigan holding mass in Hungarian.
