Aztalan, the Mississippian town on the Crawfish

A walled town of platform mounds on the Crawfish River, settled around 900 and abandoned by about 1300, and the furthest north the Mississippian world reached in any organised way. The stockade has been partly rebuilt so you can see the scale of it. Whoever lived here was in contact with Cahokia, a city of twenty or thirty thousand people near present-day St. Louis, and the pottery and the corn and the way they arranged the place all came up the rivers from there.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
