Wetsel was a mill owner's square mile on the Austin to McKinney stage road
1880
Wetsel, Allen, Texas
Henry Wetsel built and ran one of the first grist and flour mills in McKinney, then sold out of the county seat and took a square mile of headright land south of it. He put a cabin on the stage road that ran between Austin and McKinney, and the community that gathered around it in the late 1800s never amounted to much more than a few houses. Allen's city limits have since closed over all of it.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
