Weehawken's public library, a house on the lip of the Palisades
1942

The building went up as a private house on the cliff edge and became the town library in 1942. It stands directly above the Lincoln Tunnel helix, so the reading rooms look down on the spiral that drops Manhattan traffic off the Palisades. A renovation in 1997 and 1998 expanded it, and it now holds about 43,000 volumes along with Weehawken's historical commission.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
