The women of Glendale organised in 1901 as a self culture club and raised the money for the town's first library. When the library was run as a private stock company, they bought up shares and assigned members to vote them. In 1913 they built themselves a Craftsman clubhouse of California redwood to a design by Thornton Fitzhugh, listed on the National Register in 1989.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
