Waxahachie Creek gave the town and the county their name
1850
Midlothian, Texas
The creek rises at Midlothian and runs about 23 miles southeast alongside what is now US 287, past Waxahachie and Lake Waxahachie, and empties into Lake Bardwell near Ennis. The town founded on it in 1850 took its name, usually explained as a Native American word for cow or buffalo. The creek is the reason the county seat sits where it does.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
