Wagner Electric started building its plant along Plymouth Avenue in Wellston in 1906, drawn by cheap land, rail sidings and a streetcar line that could deliver workers to the gate. By 1913 it was being called the third largest electrical plant in the country, and at its peak in the mid 1950s it employed about 6,000 people. Wagner closed in 1983 and the Wellston Loop shopping district around it went with it.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
