The Smith House, a Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian on a teacher's salary
1950
Bloomfield Hills, Michigan
David Brossard · CC BY-SA 2.0 · Wikimedia Commons
Melvyn and Sara Smith were two public school teachers on a tight budget who talked Frank Lloyd Wright into designing them a house, built in 1949 and 1950. Thomas Church added the landscape in 1957. It is on the National Register and is now in Cranbrook's care rather than in private hands.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
