The Rego Park Jewish Center and its mosaic front
1948
Rego Park, Queens, New York

Frank Grad and Sons finished this streamlined Art Deco synagogue in 1948, as Rego Park filled with Jewish families moving out from Brooklyn and the Bronx. The facade carries a large mosaic by the Hungarian born artist A. Raymond Katz, which is the main reason the building sits on both the state and national registers. The Conservative congregation still meets there.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
