The Jacksonville Jewish Center carries its Torah scrolls out to Mandarin
1976
Jacksonville, Florida
The congregation incorporated downtown in 1901 as the Hebrew Orthodox Congregation B'nai Israel, built at Jefferson and Duval in 1907, then moved north to Springfield in 1927. It bought ground out on the southside in 1963 and shifted across in stages over the next thirteen years. On 11 January 1976 its leaders carried the Torah scrolls from the old Springfield ark to the new building on San Jose Boulevard. It is now one of the largest Jewish congregations in northeast Florida.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
