Ahavas Sholom, the last synagogue left of fifty
1923
Newark, New Jersey

Newark once held roughly seventy thousand Jews and about fifty synagogues, the sixth largest Jewish community in the country. Congregation Ahavas Sholom on Broadway, built in 1923, is the only one of them that has never stopped holding services. Since 2007 the building has also housed the Jewish Museum of New Jersey, which keeps the record of the congregations that are gone.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
