The Passaic Street Bridge, third try at the same crossing

Two earlier bridges stood at this point on the Passaic River before the girder span went up in 1898. It carried the traffic between two mill cities on opposite banks, Passaic with its woolen industry and Garfield on the Bergen County side, and it came through the flood of 1903 that tore up the valley. It still carries cars and is considered eligible for the National Register.
