The Old Cedar Avenue Bridge, closed to cars and reopened on foot

A low steel truss span carried Cedar Avenue over the Minnesota River bottoms here from 1920, rebuilt on a crossing first put up in 1890 to link Bloomington with Eagan. Repeated flooding wore the structure down until the city shut it to cars in 1993. It was listed on the National Register in 2013 and reopened in October 2016 as a walking and cycling bridge into the wildlife refuge. The wide highway bridge beside it, opened in 1979, carries the traffic now.
