Nassau County outgrew its first courthouse within a generation of splitting from Queens, and in 1938 hired Lawrence J. Lincoln, an architect living in the county, to design a replacement. The three building complex went up as a Public Works Administration job and opened in 1940, carrying sculptural panels by Albert Stewart. It has heard the county's most watched trials ever since, and it went on the National Register in 2021. The address says Mineola but the building stands in Garden City.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
