Welton Becket designed this curved 28 storey slab for Kaiser Industries and it opened in 1960 as Oakland's tallest building and the largest office tower west of the Rocky Mountains. The garage beside it carries a roof garden of more than three acres, one of the earliest built on an American office block. Henry J. Kaiser ran a Fortune 500 conglomerate of shipyards, steel, aluminium, cement and health plans out of it.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
