The Grand Prairie plant turns out Mustangs, Texans and Liberators
1941
Grand Prairie, Texas
The government broke ground here in September 1940 and dedicated the plant in April 1941 as the first of the emergency wartime expansion factories. North American Aviation leased it and built 12,967 T-6 Texan trainers, 4,790 P-51 Mustangs and 966 B-24 Liberators before production stopped in August 1945. It stayed government owned and contractor operated on prototype weapons work until 2014, and was sold to a private buyer in 2012 for $357,500.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
