Terminal Island emptied
1942
Terminal Island, California
Don Ramey Logan · CC BY-SA 3.0 · Wikimedia Commons
A Japanese American fishing village of some 3,000 people was given 48 hours to leave, the first mass removal on the West Coast, and its houses, shops and Shinto shrine were bulldozed. Almost nothing of it survives. Two brick buildings and a memorial mark the site.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
