St. Paul's Church and the burial ground beside the old market square
1702
Chester, Pennsylvania
CC0 · Wikimedia Commons
This Episcopal congregation was founded in 1702, twenty years after Penn landed a few streets away, and it is still holding services. Its old burial ground sits next to what was Chester's market square, now the Avenue of the States. Membership has thinned with the city around it: the parish reported 78 members in 2015 and 32 in 2023.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
