Rose Valley, an Arts and Crafts colony built around a dead textile mill

The architect William Lightfoot Price bought eighty acres around a failed textile mill on Ridley Creek in 1901 and set out to build a working community of craftspeople on Ruskin and Morris lines. He was also a follower of Henry George and co-founded the single tax colony at Arden, Delaware. The borough that grew out of it covers less than three quarters of a square mile and had 1,190 residents in 2023.
