Three members of a Seattle arts society, Frank Calvert, Alfred Renfro and Finn Frolich, incorporated the Western Academy of Beaux Arts in 1908 and bought fifty acres of lakeside forest where members could live and work together. The art colony never took hold. The place incorporated as a town in 1954 and now holds a few hundred residents on a tenth of a square mile, among the smallest and wealthiest municipalities in King County.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
