S.T. Gunderson and Sons built 230 houses across southern Oak Park between 1906 and 1920, the second of the firm's two developments in the village. Their architect Frank DeMoney worked almost entirely in the American Foursquare, a plain form that could be put up affordably, then distinguished each house with details borrowed from Arts and Crafts and other styles of the day. The district sits a short walk from the Frank Lloyd Wright houses that visitors come for.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
