Rose Hill answered to Housley for as long as it had a post office

Settlement here began in 1853 on land granted to John Little, W. S. Peques and J. W. Smith. The post office ran from 1884 to 1906 under the name Housley, and the Rose Hill name only took hold by 1931, either from the settler P. W. Rose or from roses in the churchyard. In 1912 the crossroads had four stores, two churches, a school, a restaurant, a blacksmith and about twenty houses. Garland annexed it in 1970.
