The Jackson family took a Peters Colony grant out here in 1842 and put a store at the crossing that is now Audelia Road and Forest Lane. They named the settlement Ardelia after a daughter of the family, and a few decades of Texas pronunciation turned it into Audelia. A post office opened in the store in 1899, and by 1940 the place had a cotton gin, a school, a church and about 35 residents. Dallas finished annexing it in 1981.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
