Elam Station kept its post office twenty years and its skating rink far longer
1884
Elam, Dallas, Texas
Settlers arrived in 1881 and the post office opened as Elam Station on 9 April 1884, shortened to Elam in 1899 and closed in 1904 when Rylie took over the mail. Dallas annexed the area in 1959. What local people actually knew it for was the Twilight Time Skating Palace, the Buckner Bowl lanes and Crawford Park, and the crossroads now carries a post office again and a DART station.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
