Rockefeller State Park Preserve, an estate given away
1983
Mount Pleasant, New York

Starting in 1983 the Rockefeller family began handing the state the wooded hills behind Sleepy Hollow, along with the carriage roads laid out across them for riding and walking. David Rockefeller's estate added more land in 2019. The result is one of the few places in the New York suburbs where a Gilded Age landscape survives intact because it stopped being private property.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
