The Sisters of Providence arrived during the Second World War and opened Saint Joseph Medical Center in 1943 to serve a town swollen by Lockheed's workforce. Twelve years later the same order opened a Catholic college preparatory school on the land beside it. The school has stayed on that campus ever since, a short walk from the Disney and Warner lots.
