The Sisters of St. Joseph chartered a girls' academy in Cleveland in 1890, thirty years before American women could vote. In 1898 the community bought 52 acres out in Rockport Hamlet, on a mud road that is now Rocky River Drive, and moved the school there. The academy building facing the motherhouse was dedicated in 1929. It is still the only all girls Catholic high school inside the Cleveland city limits.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
