Pinewood joins Miami in 1925, then gets handed back
Pinewood, Miami-Dade County, Florida
Most of Pinewood was annexed into the City of Miami in 1925, at the top of the land boom. When the Depression arrived the city gave up its claim and the neighbourhood was pushed back out into unincorporated Dade County, where it has stayed ever since. About 17,000 people live in it today with no city of their own.
