West Little River is annexed by Miami, then handed back
1925
Miami-Dade County, Florida
Miami swallowed a long stretch of country northwest of the city in 1925, at the very top of the land boom. When the boom broke and the Depression followed, the city could not afford to serve what it had taken and gave the jurisdiction up again. West Little River has been unincorporated county ever since, with some 34,000 residents and no city hall of its own.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
