Miami annexed Gladeview in the boom and handed it back in the Depression
1925
Gladeview, Florida
Gladeview was a City of Miami neighbourhood after the 1925 annexation wave that swallowed a ring of land during the land boom. When the Depression arrived the city gave up jurisdiction rather than keep paying for it, and Gladeview became unincorporated county territory, which it still is. Neighbouring Pinewood was dropped the same way. Close to fifteen thousand people now live in a place no city wanted to govern.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
