Philadelphia's main airport was in New Jersey
1929
Pennsauken, New Jersey
Central Airport opened at Pennsauken in September 1929 and for about twelve years it was the airline connection for the whole Philadelphia region, on the wrong side of the state line. Passengers flew out of New Jersey and took a bus over the bridge. Larger aircraft like the DC-3 needed longer runways than the field could offer, and Philadelphia's own airport finished it off.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
