Red Bird Airport gave a whole side of Dallas its name
1947
Dallas, Texas
Dallas bought roughly a thousand acres here in 1944 and opened Red Bird Airport in 1947 to take the light aircraft that were crowding Love Field. The name spread outward to the surrounding neighbourhoods and to the mall built nearby in 1975, so southern Dallas still calls the district Redbird. The city renamed the field Dallas Executive Airport in 2002 to sell it to corporate flyers, and the old name stayed on everything around it.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
