Addison Airport, and the road tunnel dug under its runway
1954
Addison, Texas
The airfield opened in 1954 north of Dallas and the town of Addison bought it outright in 1976. Its single runway sits across the middle of a small town, cutting the street grid in half, so in 1999 Addison finished a toll tunnel that carries cars from one side to the other underneath the pavement. It remains one of the busiest general aviation fields in the country.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
