The school started in the 1880s as Fort Worth High School. Fire moved it to Jennings and Rosedale in 1910 and then to Cannon and College in 1918, where it was renamed Central High. The district renamed it again in 1935 for R. L. Paschal, the principal who had run it since 1906, and moved it to this Forest Park Boulevard campus in 1955. It is still the district's oldest and largest high school.
