North Central College moves from Plainfield to Naperville and stays
1870
Naperville, Illinois
The college was founded at Plainfield in 1861 by the Evangelical Association and moved to Naperville in 1870 after the town put up money and land to win it. It has anchored the east side of downtown ever since, its buildings and playing fields laid into the street grid rather than walled off behind a gate. Shimer College's Great Books programme, one of the oldest in the country, moved here in 2017 when Shimer merged into North Central.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
