Nyack's post office, its New Deal murals and the name on the door
1932
Nyack, New York

Built on South Broadway in 1932 in a Classical Revival style that federal architects rarely used for post offices between the wars. Jacob Getlar Smith painted the lobby murals in 1937 under a Treasury relief art programme, showing scenes of colonial Rockland County, and the way some panels depict Native Americans has drawn protest in the village since. Congress renamed the building in 2004 for Sergeant Edward O'Grady, Officer Waverly Brown and Brink's guard Peter Paige, the three men killed in the 1981 Brink's robbery and the roadblock shootout in Nyack that followed it.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
