Ben Shahn's murals in the Bronx post office

Ben Shahn and Bernarda Bryson painted thirteen panels around the lobby of a 1937 post office, a cycle called Resources of America showing miners, farmers, cotton pickers and textile workers. They took the theme from Walt Whitman's I Hear America Singing and set a line of it in the wall. It is one of the largest surviving New Deal mural commissions in New York.
