North Grove Street and the houses Tarrytown's first mayor built
1860
Tarrytown, New York
Daniel Case · CC BY-SA 3.0 · Wikimedia Commons
Five mid nineteenth century houses and a carriage barn on a short stretch of street, put up in Second Empire, Gothic Revival and Italianate styles when the lots still had a clear view west to the Hudson. Three were built by Jacob Odell, Tarrytown's first village president, and his descendants. They were listed together in 1979 because they had survived largely unaltered, which was already unusual by then.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
