West side church workers started a youth theatre in 1978 and ran it for 36 years out of the third floor ballroom of St. Patrick's Catholic Club on Bridge Avenue, casting children and retirees into the same musicals. In 2014 the company moved into a 275 seat building of its own on Detroit Avenue, funded through the campaign that rebuilt the Gordon Square strip around three theatres. It is one of the few cases where a neighbourhood arts district was assembled around a company that was already there.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
