Meadows Place incorporates one square mile to avoid being annexed
1983
Meadows Place, Texas
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
The subdivision sat inside Stafford's extraterritorial jurisdiction until residents voted to become their own city in November 1983, a municipality of roughly one square mile and under five thousand people. It incorporated as Meadows, then had to change the name to Meadows Place in 1997 because the Postal Service kept confusing it with Meadow, Texas, out in the panhandle.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
