Pantego incorporates twice to avoid being swallowed by Arlington

Pantego first incorporated in 1949 to block annexation by Arlington, then voted itself out of existence in February 1952 in a fight over a water and sewer bond. Arlington immediately drew an annexation ring around the town, and the residents incorporated again on May 22, 1952. What survives is one square mile of about 2,500 people, wrapped by Arlington on three sides and Dalworthington Gardens on the fourth.
