Lockport station, put down beside the canal it was meant to replace
1863
Lockport, Illinois

The Chicago and Alton built this station in 1863, running its track along the Illinois and Michigan Canal that had made Lockport the canal commission's headquarters. Amtrak's Lincoln Service and Texas Eagle still share the corridor and neither one stops. Metra's Heritage Corridor gives the town three inbound trains in the morning and three back at night, weekdays only, for roughly 344 boardings a day.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
