Little Saigon grows in Clarendon after the fall of Saigon
1975
Clarendon, Arlington, Virginia
Vietnamese refugees arriving after April 1975 turned a half-empty stretch of Clarendon into a district of restaurants, groceries and shops, at its busiest from the late 1970s into the early 1980s. Then the Metro arrived. The Orange Line station brought redevelopment and rents the businesses could not pay, and most of them closed or moved out, many to the Eden Center in Falls Church.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
